black and white filmstock adventures

Last semester, I had the glorious opportunity to work in my university's dark room whilst studying a Photowork unit. The above photographs are a selection of film I developed from 35mm Ilford black and white film stock both at ISO 400 and 1600 for two assignments; Picturing Movement and Picturing The Dark. I honestly wish I could do this unit every semester. Taking photos and developing them in a dark room yourself is an experience like no other. Frustrating and time consuming, yet educational and oh so rewarding when you come out with a photograph pretty much exactly how you had envisioned it.
Raw, tangible moments in black and white. They are the best ones.

P.s. In other news, as of yesterday I am officially heading to Melbourne in January, and am going to see these guys live! James Booth tho made this video for the band is incredible. Check out his work, his black and whites (and everything) he does is beautiful.

summer wonder

Words cannot express how excited and glad I am that Gemma Ward has returned to modelling!
This film for Country Road is just so stunning. I have watched it so many times now I have lost count. Gemma and Naia are so beautiful. A true summer wonder.
Gemma's voice takes me to another world. Fell in love all over again. x

(the row) of light, new york

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have absolutely nailed it, once again. From here with The Row, to another favourite Elizabeth and James, they always have clear, simple, beautiful ensembles. The setting of this particular show, the wooden floors, brick walls and rays of light painting the space add every bit to the ambiance as the clothes themselves.
I don't know how they do it, but the silhouettes and cuts are flawless, EVERY TIME.
They must be witches. Which (haha) makes them even cooler.

mermaids and pirates: rodarte spring 15, new york

Dakota Fanning.
Elisa Sednaoui.
Tavi Gevinson and Dakota Fanning.

When Tavi posted this photo of the Rodarte set in New York, I immediately fell in love with the turquoise colour and, to no surprise, the clothes were just as stunning. Mixing the scales of a mermaid with the stripes of a sailor and the piercings of a pirate, it was the perfect maritime-aqua-wearable art collection. And I've always wanted to be a mermaid and/or pirate, so there's that too.

Now playing Augie March's latest recordHavens Dumb. It is sehr good- "Hobart Obit" is particularly nice/
ENJOY.
